Bryan
When a member calls in distress, our Nurse Advocates use their experience and knowledge to assess the situation and offer clinical intervention quickly.
Bryan was working out in the field and was experiencing worrying medical symptoms so he called us. His Nurse Advocate was persistent in ensuring he got the immediate care he needed, saving his life.
The problem.
Bryan was at a job site outside of his home in a remote area. He had been experiencing chest pains, shortness of breath, cold sweats, and dizziness since early that morning, and decided to call us for guidance.
The solution.
Within the first few minutes, Bryan’s Nurse Advocate was able to quickly assess what was going on and told him to call 911. While he told her he didn’t want to go to the ER and that he was in a location that couldn’t be accessed by an ambulance, the Nurse Advocate insisted he contact EMS. He continued to come up with reasons why he couldn’t go, but she was adamant that he call immediately, which he finally did.
It was discovered at the hospital that Bryan had experienced a heart attack, and if he’d not gotten help when he did, the outcome wouldn’t have been good.
The result.
Bryan was admitted to the hospital following his heart attack. His Nurse Advocate made sure he got the care he needed when he needed it most. She was able to use her expertise to immediately recognize the danger he was in and offer clinical intervention that ultimately saved his life.
Bryan has since made a full recovery and is grateful for the quick response from his Nurse Advocate.
